Absoluut Verhulst

Recently returned from my 3rd visit to this lovely B&B. Have stayed twice in the Loft-Suite and once in the Classique. Both are very clean, comfortable and well designed. The spaciousness of the Loft-Suite is ideal for traveling with family. Absoluut Verhulst is very conveniently located. Frieda and Benno serve a beautiful breakfast and are very attentive hosts.

We stayed with Freida and Benno for two nights and had a wonderful stay. What everyone says about the breakfast is true-it's large and very tasty! We enjoyed the eggs, cheese, ham, fruit, coffee, and bread, all served in a nice room with a view of the garden. Upon our arrival, Frieda gave us a map with a few local recommendations, which we followed happily. The home is old so we did hear guests moving about, but didn't mind. There was almost no street traffic. Our room, a classic on the first (European) floor was decorated nicely with a modern bathroom. There were adapters in the room, which was helpful. The bed was VERY comfortable! All in all, we really enjoyed our stay in Bruges.

We just returned from a three day stay at Absoluut Verhuist and this was just about perfect. For one thing, it's away from the Center, which is crawling with tours and tourists. For another the innkeepers were welcoming and very helpful. The Inn is in a part of the city that seems to have attracted the best restaurants in a city that has its share of good ones--and very mediocre ones. Both Benno and Frieda care about food and wine, and they know their restaurants. Every innkeeper has recommendations; that's part of the deal. But it's rare to find people who really know what they're talking about. They sent us to a restaurant called Rock Fort, where we had one of the best meals we've had in a long time; and we spend more than half our year in Paris. Finally, the breakfasts are superb. We couldn't have asked for more and credit for that goes to the warmth and expertise of Frieda and Benno.

Our stay was really amazing, Benno and Frieda make Absoluut Verhulst a place you don't want to leave. Loved every minute of staying there, great room, large and clean, really yummy breakfast (we ate way too much every morning). When we go back to Brugge - we will be hoping there is a room available for us at Absoluut Verhulst! Thank you Benno and Frieda for making our stay in Brugge so enjoyable. Travelled with an infant.

There is a scene in the Shawshank Redemption where Red describes Andy Dusfrene as a bird so beautiful that he shouldn't be caged. Absoluut Verhulst is such a bird. It deserves to be discovered by everyone travelling to Bruges and yet in doing so, I'm afraid this might jeopardise future bookings by me! This stay was perfect. Despite an early start to participate in the Ronde cyclo, breakfast was no problem at 5.30am. Benno and Frieda were perfect hosts, and I have no hesitation in saying that having traveled to Bruges four times in the last year, this was by far the best place that I have stayed. The room was delightful - warm, welcoming, comfortable... the superlatives could flow. Please Benno and Freida, next time I want to stay in Bruges make sure you have a room available...
