B&B Alegria

"A B&B like no other"
Stayed at the Alegria for one night in February 2012 and wished we'd stayed there longer. Our hosts were incredibly welcoming and helped us get the most out of our short stay in Antwerp. This has to be one of the best b&bs you will find. As well as a large bedroom and bathroom, we had a spacious and beautifully decorated lounge/dining room in which a delicious breakfast was served. The location is good for the station and is a 20 minute walk to the Grote Markt. There is a tram stop outside the b&b. Antwerp has a lot to offer and the Alegria, Rob and John do it proud.

"Great place, excellent B&B with brilliant hosts"
My wife and I stayed here for two nights in September 2011. Our hosts were brilliant and their property, rooms and facilities (large colour TV, comfortable double bed, spotless bathroom), breakfast (everything fresh and hot) coupled with their hospitality and service could not be faulted. They assisted with the luggage in and out of the car as well as with car parking (we parked the car in their garage [cost] for the stay and walked everywhere]; they were attentive without being obtrusive and helped with local knowledge and tips. Alegria B&B is within walking distance of the railway station via 'Chinatown'. Like many of the beautiful buildings in the city, we found the station to be a fascinating but found 'Chinatown' (one street) a disappointment - we dined in one of the restaurants and got a ripped-off with cold food, poor service and rude staff (try Wagamama's for a better experience all round - it is on de Keyserlei 15, a street a couple of blocks down from the railway station). Best (free) view of the City is from the top of the MAS Museum, overlooking the River Schelde; Rueben's House (now a museum) well worth a visit. Antwerp has a lot to offer and you cannot go wrong staying at the Alegria.

"Fantastic place to stay."
We'd stayed here just before Christmas, and although the weather in Antwerp was lousy staying at the Alegria made this a trip to remember. We stayed on the first floor which is effectively a suite of rooms, consisting of a bedroom (with a large and indecently comfortable double bed), a huge bathroom, and a lovely sitting/dining room which runs the length of the property, where a great breakfast is served each morning at the time of your choice. Add this to the help and hospitality of Rob and John, and the price (80 euros per night), then this is a great place to stay. And although, the location is a little out of the old centre (about a 15 minute walk to the Rubens house, and 25 minutes to the Grote Markt) it is only a five minute walk from the Central Station. Highly recommended
