"Great staff"
I've stayed here for 2 consecutive years now, both times for the Christmas markets. This hotel is very basic but serves it purpose perfectly. The staff are superb, the location is fantastic and overall the hotel is great value for money. I'll be looking to book my 3rd visit without hesitation.

"Old, tired and loud"
The hotel is nicely located, the building itself looks great, old and flemmish. The room we got was small, the furniture was old and cheap and the bathroom didn't have the necessary ventilation. Furthermore room 14 has a horrible parking lot view and is situated opposite the reception desk which was a nightmare during the night and in the morning. This added to the fact that the walls are really thin and the doors are still locked with keys and very cheap ones, doesn't provide a very quiet ambiance to sleep. We had to shower in another room in the morning because we had no hot water in our bathroom. Other than that the breakfast room is very nice and cosy and the breakfast itself was good. The room was much to expensive for the experience we had.

"Not a 4 star hotel"
For the first time I didn't bother to read trip advisor reviews before booking this hotel and I paid the price! I booked the hotel believing it was 4 star, however was disappointed to find it was more of a 2/3 star hotel. Our room, number 8 had an extremely small window meaning the room was very dark and very very warm! The furniture and decor needs an urgent revamp if it is to continue to live up to it's 4 star rating. On a positive note, the location was superb, we were 5/10 minutes from the main square by the Belfry Tower.

"Charming, friendly, clean & quiet"
We loved this hotel. At the end of a two-week Netherlands & Belgium trip, our three days at the Azalea was a lovely ending. The staff was extremely helpful and quick to offer suggestions for dining, maps for walking, etc.. The hotel is a charming old building with creaky , uneven wood floors, curving open staircase, a small bar, and large breakfast room overlooking a canal. We watched swans swim by one morning while enjoying an ample breakfast (eggs & bacon). Our large room also overlooked a canal and had a modern bathroom, offering the best shower I had in two weeks! The hotel is located on a fairly quiet street; since Bruges is so small, you can walk to the center of town easily in 10 minutes or less. A lovely end to a wonderful vacation.

"Friendly Place"
Stayed here on New Years Eve for a couple of nights. When enquiring and booking over e-mail the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Even when we checked in and out the staff were very pleasant. The hotel is very authentic and picturesque downstairs. The rooms are unfortunately quite dated and in need of a little update. The rooms were not offensive however, just old fashioned and tired. Make sure you get a room upstairs as there are about 5 rooms next to reception and the noise can be a little loud when you get over enthusiastic tourists (and dogs?!?!) checking out! The bar was a little disappointing, its basically a few tables, an old telly and a small bar, but the drinks were good. It was a bit of a shame that the bar man wanted to go home so closed the bar up at 12:30 a.m. on 1st January... Breakfast was the standard continental bread and cheese etc. I wouldn't go back to this hotel as I prefer a little more modern rooms, but overall it was good.
