Silken Berlaymont Brussels ****

Geboekt een arrangement voor (2x) 2 pers. 2 nachten-2x ontbijt en 2 x 3-gangen diner. In het hotel aangekomen bleek dat er maar 1 x een 3-gangen diner bij het arrangement hoorde fout op de website. Manager Isabelle Janssens werd er bij gehaald, wij hadden de dubbele bevestiging op schrift bij ons, maar het ging niet door! Kostte ons 4x een diner extra. Geen excuus of tegemoetkoming. Ook niet nadat we thuis waren, terwijl onze gegevens bekend waren en we er nog iets van zouden horen. De eetzaal was vreselijk koud, de douche kon niet opgehangen worden om staande te douchen en de poten van het opklapbed staken uit, dus meermalen tenen gestoten!

Indeed, in walking distance of EU commission and council buildings, and you pay for this. The rest of what is usually considered to be required from a hotel is poor, or indeed very poor. Design and organisation of the space is confusing and ugly, fake preppy modern. Rooms are cramped. Service at the front desk is below standard - just standard phrases and tired routine. Breakfast is best avoided, both for noise level, impractical seating, industrial juice and bad coffee. Only consider staying here if location is your single criterium.

I stayed there from 3rd to 5th of May on a business trip to Brussels. The hotel, the staff, the rooms were fantastic and really enjoyed my stay. I just feel the need to express something I witnessed and amazed me negatively. During breakfast there was a machine making small waffles. When they were baked the tall, bold with glasses waiter went to get them. They would be served somewhere (probably at a conference room). He put them in chocolate and then in a small pot but one of them fell on the ground as we was trying to remove it from the machine. I was watching him carefully and I thought: he wouldn't would he? and he did. He picked it up from the ground where I and several people were standing seconds ago and put it in the spot. It was the first time I witnessed such a thing at a hotel, let alone a 4 star hotel. And I wonder, would HE like to eat that? and, he did it in front of a customer, me. Anyway, I feel better now I've said it. Make your own conclusions...

Good hotel close to European institutions in Brussels. Efficient and friendly check-in and check-out. Prices are steep, so are other hotels in the area. Rooms are small but well equipped. Poor and expensive (€22) WI-FI internet connection from Swiss Com. Expensive breakfast, better to go to a sandwich shop in the area.

Was in Brussels for a couple of days business trip and was pleasantly impressed by the conditions offered by the hotel - with attention to comfort and quality food. The room was extremely spacious, with a nice view to the Archimedes street. What i appreciated the most was the food - incredible quality and variety for breakfast, while the L'Objectif Restaurant had imaginative and delicious dishes for lunch and dinner. 3 minutes away from the 12 bus to the airport and a step from Eu buildings, Silken Berlaymont is a very good choice for a business stay in the area.
