Ambassador ***

"Great"
We've just got back from a 2 night stay with our two children. Really nice hotel - clean, modern, comfortable rooms (we had a suite type room - with kids in one part, us in the other). Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and great location - very near the beach. Another review mentioned that the tram runs right outside the hotel and is rather noisy - I agree, but to our tram-mad kids, this was considered a bonus! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Best breakfast!"
We spent one night at this hotel. We had a lovely corner room with lots of windows. Our hosts were very helpful with directions, etc. The free breakfast was the best of our whole 3 week trip! Very nice hotel, centrally located. Definitely stay here if you're traveling to De Panne!

"Very warm stay, very friendly, we'll come back"
We decided to go to this hotel for a week-end trip at the last minute. It was the high season but we managed to get a room and we also took the half-board (Modified American Plan). Although located on the main street, there wasn't traffic noise in the room. They have a parking at the back ; it's not free but still less expensive than a full day in the street (mid-2011). When you arrive, you are warmly welcomed and someone will accompany you to your room. The room wasn't that big but still very comfortable for two parents and a 3 years-old child. The room contained a big bed, two small sofas, a small table and a big cupboard. The attached bathroom contained everything needed (shower, sink and toilet). Everything was clean and well arranged. We took a dinner at the restaurant. The menu is well balanced and the dishes were delicious. If you have a special request (no beef e.g.), they'll try their best to offer you an alternative. The atmosphere in the restaurant (as well as in the hotel) is what I call "professional family": relax, friendly and less formal than in a 4-5 stars hotel. For a family with kid(s) (up to 12), it's nice to know they have a playroom with all kind of toys and books adjacent to the restaurant. During holidays, there are other kids and they can play together (even if they don't speak the same language) while the parents are finishing their dinner in peace. A large window allows to keep an eye on the kids.

"Good location and good value"
This was our second visit in a year and we were as satisfied as on the first. The hotel is conveniently located for the beach and town and has its own secure car park costing 7.50 Euro per night. I normally resent having to pay extra for hotel parking but in this case it's the lesser of two evils because De Panne has recently introduced very expensive charges for on street parking. Despite comments to the contrary in another review we found the staff, particularly the proprietor (who speaks perfect English), very friendly and helpful. Rooms are of an adequate size, have everything you could reasonably want (except tea and coffee making facilities) and are spotlessly clean. As others have said, though, try to get one at the back because those at the front face directly on to the main street and the noise of passing trams and traffic is quite intrusive if you have the window open. We stayed B&B so didn't sample the resataurant in the evening (there are plenty of decent restaurants a few minutes walk away) but the buffet breakfast was excellent and included scrambled eggs which were among the best I've had in any hotel. The rates are excellent value for money. I'm sure we'll be back!
