Croonhof ***

"Just OK"
We were in town to visit Plopsaland in de Panne. The hotel, unfortunately, did not live up to our expectations in reference to the room. We always need roomy accommodations, we travel with two adults and two young girls. This room was far too small and the furnishings were out of date and tired. We also did not experience the people working at the hotel as very friendly. We did enjoy a lovely meal at the hotel, which was excellent.

"Overpriced B&B"
We found it in a guide book and it really got good reviews, their website also sold a really plush story, although it is probably more famous for it's restaurant, the accomodation looked and sounded really good. It is quite pricey for accomodation but we thought it looked worth it. We were really disappointed, it turned out to be really average French accomodation. We had booked a triple room and the room was big but the decor was dated, nothing really plush about it. The room had no airconditioning, and the heat hit us as we walked in, bearig in mind we visited on the 28th October, we could open a window which helped a little, however if you were visiting in summer it would be unbearable. The bed linen and towels were clean, crisp and in pristine condition. Bathroom was quite big but no window or extractor so after the 2nd shower it became a steam room. Secure parking just a short walk away from the hotel €11 per night Breakfast was included in the rate and there was plenty of it. Would we return here, probably not as there are other places offering same quality with aircon for a lower price.

"Overpriced for a very average B&B"
Attractive town and from photos three star hotel and restaurant. We arrived on a Sunday in August the restaurant however was closed on Sunday and Monday. We booked a "superior" room, there is at least one in existence pictured in the Veurne tourist brochure, very nice, but our room was nothing like it. It was poor, in need of a complete decorative makeover, a tired bathroom en suite with a rickety sliding door and no soundproofing! No window in the bathroom and a fan that sounded like a chain saw when in operation. No tea/coffee making facilities, stains on the carpet, no mini bar, the fridge in the room was dirty and turned off but plugged into an assortment of multi points stuck in the electric socket. We paid 110euro too much for our room and 10 euro to park our car in the useful secure garage, only a quarter full, for 1 night but a daytime stay here during sightseeing and beyond checkout was out of the question mainly because returning the remote to the garage door in the afternoon was impossible because the reception was unmanned all afternoon, what would happen in an emergency was unclear. Another hotel in Veurne may provide what one had paid for but clearly not here. Most disappointing.

"Quiet, central, family run hotel, superb food!"
Business trip with colleagues. Hotel Croonhof is a family run hotel with some serious culinary skills in the family! Our dinner was superb - continental breakfast was ok, hard boiled eggs standard was variable though! Really only downside were the rooms which, to be honest are a little bit tired with no tea / coffee facilities and only small, old tv. Bathroom was fine. Big selling point would be the location, which is about 50m from the beautiful town square with historic buildings and plenty of bars, restaurants. Don't worry about the noise, this is Belgium, not Britain! Parking has been previously mentioned - the hotel has its own secure, covered parking in the mews behind the hotel. Recommend you drop off outside the hotel to check in, then get directions to the 'garage' which is about 5 mins walk from the hotel.

"Could be better"
Stayed at Croonhof for couple of days in August (third visit to this hotel). 1st thing to mention parking in Blue zone outside hotel requires parking disk available from hotel. Received ticket while taking in luggage to hotel. Not good start to trip. Room was OK but hot & stuffy in spite of 2 fans in room. Helpfull owners & good breakfast. Just make sure you get good room. Veurne lovely little town.
