Maxim ***

We stopped here on our way to England (so as to catch the first ferry out) and were delighted with this place. Big spotless room, friendly service and even a bottle of sparkling wine in the room as it was Valentines Day. The meal in the restaurant was superb and we plan on coming back very soon!

We stayed overnight in the hotel and found the staff very helpful and friendly. superb breakfast including omelets as well as normal continental. underground parking 10e.room adequate but in need of TLC. decor rather dated. took the coast tram to ostend which was good fun and dropped off in newport to eat fish at market worth a visit. hotel in excellent location close to bars restaurants and of course omnipresent mussels and frites.would go back for sure. about one hour to calais.

We tried out De Panne because its less than a half hour drive from the Dunkirk ferry. We were not disappointed. Lovely little seaside town with a wide sandy beach & promenade. Loads of decent bars & restuarants for a weekend break. The Maxim is perfect for such a break, tucked-away off the main street, but still only 2 minutes walk from the seafront. Rooms are bright & spacious. Everything very clean & tidy. Staff very friendly. Breakfast superb (for Belgium anyway!). Dont be put off by the hotel websides claiming you need to pre-book and pay for parking - with a little patience you'll find a freebie within a couple of hundred yards.

This is a small hotel, without "any pretention" as also written in the review below. It's simple and easy going, but offers everything you need. We found a parking space in one of street in the neighbourhoor. Our room had no balcony but we were only here to have a good night of sleep. The room was a decent nice. No frills and I did not really like the design (too modern for my taste) but it was very clean. Breakfast was very good: the buffet is not that big but the quality of the products (for example the bread) is really outstanding! Very fresh as well. The hotel is not located at the beach so you should be aware of that. What we liked most was the extremely friendly service, especially from Laurent. This was a real pleasure!

Hôtel à taille humaine, super bien situé, plage à 2 min à pied. Accueil super sympa !!! Je conseille de réserver le parking car même en basse saison c'est du sport !!! Pour ma part (chambre 101) la déco de la chambre était agréable (dans le style 70's) et très bien équipée. Petit déj magnifique (choix et qualité) Les points faible : isolation phonique perfectible, literie trop souple, salle de bain a rénover (robinetterie, accessoire et joint de sillicone)
