Sunparks Oostduinkerke aan zee **

Zeer teleurstellende ervaring. De informatie op de website komt niet overeen met de werkelijkheid. Zo beloven ze je een privé eilandje, dit klopt niet. Het huisje ligt gewoon midden in een vakantiepark. Ze beloven privacy terwijl er voortdurend vakantiegangers voorbij lopen en de tuin in kijken. De bedden waren bij aankomst niet schoon, er zaten haren en vlekken in. Ook de badkamer was niet schoon, er lag stof op de plankjes en er zaten vlekken. Het water van de douche liep niet tot nauwelijks weg wat douchen haast onmogelijk maakte. Toen we dit meldden bij de gastvrouw gaf zij aan dat het een bekend probleem is en dat e.a. een keer opengebroken moet worden. Het keukengerei was te slecht om mee te kunnen koken. Veel onderdelen ontbraken en de pannen waren zo slecht dat alles vastplakte. Verder zat de binnen- en buitenkant van het huisje vol spinnen. Het waren er zóveel dat deze onmogelijk plotseling gekomen kunnen zijn en het was duidelijk dat ze niet vooraf verwijderd waren. We hebben wederom dit gemeld bij de gastvrouw en we hebben aangegeven waar we niet tevreden over waren. We hebben ook gemeld dat we eerder zouden vertrekken omdat we zo ontevreden waren. Hierop heeft zij niets ondernomen maar ons aangeraden contact op te nemen met de eigenaar. Na thuiskomst hebben we de eigenaar gecontacteerd en onze klachten kenbaar gemaakt. We kregen een- op zijn zachtst gezegd- onvriendelijk antwoord terug waarin hij min of meer alles ontkende en ons zelfs de schuld in de schoenen wilde schuiven. Geen excuses of compensatie. Wij zijn zeer verontwaardigd over de niet-waargemaakte beloftes van Seanooz en de wijze waarop wij behandeld zijn door de eigenaar. We zullen er zeker nooit meer terugkeren en het ook niet aanbevelen aan anderen.

We stayed in their Executive villa for the weekend in September. It is a great place to unwind and not do too much. The villa had every thing we could need from tea towels to dishwasher tablets to make our stay comfortable. The beds were comfortable and the blankets kept us warm. We had pre-hired bikes which were quite good value. The bike gentleman is really nice and helpful and let us try out our bikes before we took them out and adjusted our seats etc for us as well. This Sunparks is very close to the beach and with great cycle lanes every where it is very safe to ride bikes I don't know if there is any thing to see and do but we just enjoyed riding our bikes and the nice sandy beach nearby. The swimming pool is great as well. Non swimmers are allowed to sit by the poolside. There is free WiFi in the reception area which is quite handy but the reception area closes at 10pm. The WiFi does not extend to the villas though and for an insomniac like me who relies on internet, it wasn't very convenient. That won't be a problem for every one but it is worth keeping it in mind when booking. It is definitely a place I would recommend for a short break

My husband and I spent a long weekend at Sunparks Oostduinkerke in May 2011 and were lucky as the weather was great. Our select villa was very comfortable with a lovely outside patio area with table and chairs. The thing we missed was an oven - microwave and hob only. Also the fridge didn't have a freezer compartment so we couldn't freeze our ice packs for our picnic bag. However, we had some great days out, especially when we hired some bikes. It cost €10 per day and was worth every cent. Belgium is so bike friendly with loads of cycling trails and no hills! We bought a cycling map from reception for €6 which was perfect for planning our route. Nieuwport is a beautiful town with a lovely beach and is only 15 minutes by bike. There are some wonderful fish shops along the harbour front where we bought lemon sole, very reasonably priced. My husband fried the fish while I cycled to the Friteur on the corner of Sunparcs to buy the chips - very nice! The whole belgium coast consists of wide sandy beaches and dunes - shame about all the high rise flats though. There seemed to be lots of free parking in the coastal towns but would probably be very busy in the summer. We also went to visit Ypres which wasn't too far by car. We only used the Aquadome once but it would be ideal for families with children. Plenty of play areas for young children too. There weren't many English people here in May - mainly French and Belgian and lots of dogs. The place is very dog friendly. I would highly recommend this Sunparcs location and we plan to return again soon.

Our time at the Sunparks Oostduinkerke was fantastic! The place we stayed in was clean, modern and had a friendly atmosphere. There were plenty of activities for everyone and it was great to walk around Nieuwpoort. There was easy access to loads of places. The staff were brilliant, and we are going again this summer.

We stayed in a Standard villa for a midweek break in October. It is really convenient for the ferry port at Dunkerque. The villa was perfectly adequate for 2 adults and 2 children. The stairs are open and steep so hiring a stair gate (5 Euros + 15 Euro deposit) is a great idea if you have toddlers. The villa had plenty of outside space for an impromptu game of football. Price includes entry to Aquafun which provided hours of entertainment for our 2 year old and 11 year old. It has a paddling pool with slides, main pool with wave machine and several slides. We also used 'Kidsworld' the indoor play centre which had a range of areas for both of our children. A shop is available on site but you are paying for convenience. We found two supermarkets in Nieuwpoort about 10 minutes away on bike. Bike hire is an excellent idea and there is a wide range of different bikes available. Prebook bikes beforehand to get a sizeable discount. We did not sample any of the restaurants but found service was swift and friendly at the bar. The only entertainment on during our stay was Wednesday night Bingo, with numbers read out in 4 separate languages! To summarise, you get what you pay for. Sunparks operated several sites in Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. Center Parcs have taken over so expect renovations to take place and prices to increases to Center Parcs levels. Think of Sunparks as a cheaper version of Center Parcs but without the frills or luxury.
